Cocozelle Zucchini
Cucurbirta pepo
Italian heirloom introduced to North America in 1885. It is also commonly known as Italian Marrow Squash. The fruit is much longer and narrower than other zucchini varieties. Fruit is dark green with light green stripes and is slightly ribbed. Great taste and texture. Plants are a bush variety, however, they can produce multiple stems leading to a much larger plant. Simply trim the stems off if you wish to keep the size down.
Growing Information
55-60 days to maturity. 7 -10 days to germinate.
Start indoors and transplant after risk of frost has passed and soil has warmed. Plant in full sun. Zucchini's require feeding, manure or compost is best. Large plants can measure up to 5 feet across at maturity so give them lots of room to grow.
