Spinacia oleracea
This heritage spinach was developed by the D. Landreth Seed Company of Pennsylvania in the 1820s. It has thick dark green savoyed (crumpled) leaves on easy to harvest upright plants. Quick growing and productive, it does not bolt as quickly as other spinach. The large leaves can be used in place of lettuce on sandwiches and burgers.
Growing Information
7-10 days to germinate. 50 days to maturity.
Prefers cool weather. Best planted directly in the garden in early spring or late summer. Plant in part shade to extend it's life into the summer season. Sow seed 1cm deep and thin as needed.
